Textron celebrates 3,000th Cessna Caravan
Textron Aviation has celebrated the delivery of its 3,000th Cessna Caravan turboprop fixed-wing aircraft
The 3,000th aircraft of this type, a Cessna Grand Caravan EX was delivered to Brazilian aviation firm Azul Conecta – a subsidiary of Azul Airlines based in Jindiai, São Paulo.
Textron Aviation employees and representatives from Azul Conecta celebrated this significant milestone with a special delivery ceremony at Textron Aviation’s site in Independence, Kansas.
The Caravan is employed by a broad range of operators from around the world, for use in law enforcement, air ambulance, humanitarian, government, corporate and cargo missions. Textron stated that the aircraft was designed ‘for use in remote areas with extreme weather changes, mountainous terrain and rough landing conditions’.
“The Cessna Caravan’s versatility and reliability have made it the most popular aircraft in the utility turboprop category, with now 3,000 delivered globally,” said Lannie O’Bannion, Senior Vice President of Sales and Flight Operations at Textron Aviation. The Caravan comes in four variants – The Caravan 208; the Grand Caravan EX 208B, the Caravan Amphibian and the Grand Caravan EX Amphibian.
Tropic Ocean Airways, which operates a fleet of Grand Caravan EX Amphibians, announced a partnership with air ambulance provider REVA in December.
