US Customs and Border Protection to acquire H125 VR simulator
The simulator will be the first to be used for training by a US federal law enforcement agency
US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has awarded a contract to Davenport Aviation for the acquisition and supply of a Loft Dynamics Airbus H125 virtual reality (VR) flight simulator.
The simulator will be installed at CBP’s Oklahoma City training center, and will be used to support the training of the agency’s Air and Marine Operations (AMO) crewmembers.
CBP’s AMO fleet, which comprises more than 240 aircraft, including over 100 Airbus H125s, is used to carry out a range of complex missions, such as drug interdiction and human trafficking prevention, border surveillance, and disaster response.
The simulator will be the first VR flight simulator to be used by a US federal law enforcement agency, and marks a shift towards safer, more immersive, and more accessible pilot training.
Loft Dynamics unveiled a new VR simulator for the Airbus H145 earlier this year.
