Californians airlifted out of floods
Following heavy flooding along the Santa Ana River in California, US, 15 people were airlifted to safety on 14 February.
Following heavy flooding along the Santa Ana River in California, US, 15 people were airlifted to safety on 14 February. The flash-flooding was caused by heavy rainfall in the state.
Two rescue teams were deployed to the fast-moving river after emergency services received several reports of stranded people. Sheriff’s helicopter 40King1 rescued 11 people and Air Rescue 306 saved a further four.
“There was fast moving, rising water on both sides of the victims,” San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department commented on its Facebook page. Officials at the time said that all victims were transported and waiting medical aid.
