Leonardo acquires Kopter

Italian aviation company Leonardo has announced the closing of the acquisition of Kopter Group AG from Switzerland

The purchase price consisted of US$185 million and was paid on a cash- and debt- free basis. There is also an earn-out mechanism linked to certain milestones over the life of the program starting from 2022.

Kopter has been operating since 2009 and was primarily based in Switzerland. Its SH09 combines latest technologies with safety features at affordable cost. The SH09 is a perfect fit for Leonardo’s product range, offering opportunities for future technological developments.

Within the Helicopter Division of Leonardo, Kopter will act as an autonomous legal entity.

Through the acquisition of Kopter, Leonardo could strengthen its position in the rotorcraft sector, in line with the company’s objectives for the reinforcement of its core business.
