The renewal of the PHI Cares contract will see residents of the county continue to receive access to emergency air medical services

Caldwell County, in the US state of Texas, has renewed a contract with PHI Cares, a membership program run by PHI Air Medical.

The renewal, which was approved by Caldwell County Commissioners Court, will come into effect on 1 October 2025, and run until 30 September 2026. It continues a partnership that began in 2010.

The contract will ensure that all residents – including those who are not covered by insurance, Medicaid, or a third party responsible for their medical transport – can continue to access medically necessary emergency transport without facing out-of-pocket costs.

The contract also includes subsidized access to PHI Care’s coast-to-coast coverage, which provides optional out-of-county medical transport services.

The agreement’s renewal was spearheaded by County Judge Hoppy Hayden, who stated: “The people of Caldwell County are a main priority, and the agreement between Caldwell County and PHI Cares protects residents by offering vital, lifesaving services in times of emergency.

“By renewing this agreement, the residents of Caldwell County and their household have peace of mind that they are protected in a serious emergency. We urge all residents to pick up their membership cards and seriously think about protecting the rest of their household and themselves when travelling out of county.”

PHI Air Medical and Enterprise Rescue announced the establishment of a new a new air ambulance helicopter base in Monroeville, Alabama, last month.
