US Coast Guard awards hoist training contract
The US Coast Guard (USCG) has awarded a five-year contract to Priority 1 Air Rescue (P1AR) for the provision of MH-65 and MH-60 hoist operator training
Under the terms of the contract, P1AR will continue to provide specialized hoist operator training to USCG flight mechanics working on both MH-65E and MH-60T helicopters.
It follows the end of a previous five-year contract between the two organizations, which saw P1AR provide the same training to over 400 USCG students.
The training will be conducted at P1AR’s Search and Rescue Tactical Training Academy (SART/TAC) in Mesa, Arizona, and will feature a “full spectrum of part-task training, progressing to full advanced search and rescue (SAR) scenarios”.
The SAR scenarios will include high-risk missions, night operations, and hoist emergency procedures practice.
Following completion of the training program at SART/TAC, the students will return to their respective USCG Air Stations for the next phase of live flight training, ahead of a qualification check ride.
P1AR was awarded a similar contract by the Arizona Department of Safety (AZDPS) earlier this year.
