Robinson Helicopter and Operation Helo spotlight lifesaving missions at AirVenture 2025

Robinson Helicopter Company (RHC) is joining forces with disaster relief nonprofit Operation Helo at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025 to promote the need for more volunteer helicopter pilots during major emergencies.

Following two major US disasters in under nine months, including recent flooding along the Guadalupe River in Texas Hill Country, the organizations are calling for increased pilot participation. Operation Helo deployed six Robinson helicopters in its latest response effort, delivering essential aid and conducting rescues in hard-to-reach areas.

“In the critical hours following a natural disaster, helicopters – especially the agile Robinson helicopters – are often the only way to reach those cut off from the world,” said Eric Robinson, Executive Director and CEO of Operation Helo. “Working with Robinson Helicopter to bring this co-branded aircraft to Oshkosh highlights this urgent need.”

From 22–27 July, the specially marked Operation Helo x Robinson R44 Raven II will be on display in the Main Plaza at AirVenture, where public benefit flying will be a featured theme. The display aims to inspire more helicopter pilots to volunteer and support future emergency responses.

The partnership began after Hurricane Helene, when Operation Helo led one of the largest civilian helicopter relief efforts in recent US history. Since then, RHC has provided parts, service, and flight safety training to support the organization’s demanding operations.

“Displaying this co-branded R44 with Operation Helo isn’t just about helping to supply an aircraft,” said David Smith, President and CEO of RHC. “It’s about amplifying this organization’s safety, visibility and maintaining their operations to save lives.”

Operation Helo, which maintains a perfect operational safety record, operates in some of the most challenging environments, including confined landings and congested airspace. The organization is aiming to sign up dozens of new pilots during AirVenture 2025.

RHC recently announced its first all-new aircraft in nearly 15 years, the R88, a ‎larger and increasingly capable helicopter designed to meet a wider range of mission requirements.
